Day 7 of my £10 a week diet journal
This morning I weighed 94.9kg, that´s 1.9kg down in 7 days. It´s the lightest I´ve been in more than 10 years. If you were following from yesterday you know that I have only 47p to spend on my day 7 food. I failed! Even with a freebie! I ate this morning: breakfast roll and black pudding (free) 400kcal (I was painting a room for somebody) I ate this evening: Chilled microwave meal (55p*) 440 kcal baked beans, can (26p) 380 kcal ginger cake, large slice (18p*) 400 kcal coffee/sundries (10p), 10 kcal *sell-by date reduced Spent: £1.09 on the above, not including freebie Calories: 1695 kcal Running total after 7 days: £10.72, 9935 kcal Average daily: £1.53, 1419 kcal Conclusions: It was hard to stay true financially, because I´m currently odd-jobbing to make ends meet, so I´m getting some food and drink perks. If a grown man can monitor calories every day, he will lose weight. I might well continue in this way as the combination for calorie and money counting is quite effective for a number/stat nerd like me. A food spend of £10 a week is not impossible but very restrictive and it´s hard to eat well. In fact I´d say you cannot buy enough calories for that and weight loss is inevitable. I bought far too much boring tasteless fatty items and cheap carbs and very little fresh food. However the benefit of reduced food intake mitigates the lack of quality, it could be argued. For the next 7 day challenge I´ll aim for £15 a week and see how much fresh produce I can include in that. Perhaps even chicken instead of sausages? My local co-op food store often has reduced (end of shelf life) salad and veg if I go there are 9pm. It will still be OMAD (one meal a day) if at all possible. This suits me well. I particularly like the reduced number of bathroom visits. Next two nights I´m having supper with folks I´m doing work for. People are very kind! So challenge #2 will start on Tuesday.

Great effort, and good concept. £15 sounds more realistic for a week. Still not many treats in that. Perhaps you could try only buying reduced items?
