I was molested in middle school, and telling my mom was the biggest mistake I made
Maybe this is a flaw in my character, but I have almost never cared for retribution. When I was 14, someone was touching me in all the worst ways, and I reported it to my middle school counselor. I don´t know what happened behind the scenes, but I was switched to another fifth period class and that person left me alone. You could say it was swept under the rug, but I didn´t care. All I cared was that I didn´t need to deal with that offense anymore. I got what I wanted and just wanted to recover in peace. The biggest mistake I made was telling my mom about this. My mom wanted way more than for me to be left alone. She hired an attorney, she contacted the district, she kept going back and forth with the principal/vice principal/counselors, etc. My mom meant well, but she could not understand that I didn´t want that kind of help.
