I believe Hitler was a great man. Horrible, indeed...but great.
Now, before You all frantically jump onto the keyboard I want to make myself clear.
I am majoring in Humanities department. It doesn´t necessarily make me a big "humanist", I know. It does, however, mean that I have wishfully or not read a book or two on the topic. And maybe, wrote couple of minor essays that can relate to it.
I am certainly against everything Hitler propagated. His actions were absolutely monstrous, driven by nothing more than hatred and myths. He is all in all an embodiment of evil (or at least the academy claim so, as well as the cinema - and those are forever my main parameters) I would never even dare to say that his actions were justified at any point of his rule.
But... leaving empathy, and what we know now to be attempt of the ultimate dehumanization aside, he managed to accomplish something horrific and stunning at the same time.

I won´t brag about the statistics, of how he raised the employment rate, blah-blah...

Start simply from the question how many people of the modern era know his name? Think about the ways he used disillusionment and the revival as main tools to control a powerful nation. Think about the authority and loyalty he has *become.* Think about the depression before him. Think about the steps he was ready to make for "whatsoever his goal was". Think about the world today, and how he influenced it? Put yourself in the place of a wealthy German businessmen during his "reign" and ask yourself how would you proceed with your life? Would this peace of sh\*t sound appealing enough for the future of your children?

And finally, I recommend You to see the film "Die Welle" (Gansel; 2008)
I won´t say much about it. It should be a leap of faith. I will just point out that it perfectly demonstrate and criticize something above mentioned as if it is easy as a pie.
