Cancelling my BT line (UK), you should check your bill, save yourself some money!
After my bank didn´t pay my monthly BT direct debit, BT charged me £22, in addition to the bank´s own charge. So I did some research and found I was already paying a lot to BT, £50 a month, an increase from £45 (11%) last year. The problem with online billing and invoicing is that it´s so easy for vendors to sneak charge increases past us. The BT phone cancellation department were suddenly happy to reduce my monthly bill by 30%! This is how they treat loyal (lazy, let´s face it) customers like me. Anyway, as you can tell I´m furious with them and my landline will cease a month from today. I´ve been testing my EE data service running Netflix and it seems good enough and cheap enough for my home requirements. This come hard on the heels of Direct Line charging me a lot more for my car insurance renewal than was necessary. The first online enquire I made (AXA) knocked 25% off Direct Line. Next up is the Electricity bill!
