I agree. Deal with email first. Outlook is at least better for privacy.

Start by not using gmail for your emails. You still need account for other Google services like YouTube of course.
Use another search engine. There´s not much to choose between them.
Don´t use the Chrome browser.
Of course Android is a Google product so unless you are prepared to go to Apple, it´s a big issue finding other phones and tablets.
